The Scout Programme is based upon the adventures of Irish Explorer Tom Crean. The award system we use is named after him and the awards are named after the expeditions he took part in. The Crean Awards are the cornerstone of the Scout Programme.
Scouts earn these badges through personal development, taking part in Patrol & Troop activities, taking on community and environmental projects and developing their Scouting Skills. The Patrol Leaders Council decides whether or not a Scout has completed the requirements for the awards.
Other Badges & Awards
In addition to the Crean Awards, Scouts can also earn the following:
- Special Interest Badges
- Adventure Skills
- Helmsman Badges
- Chief Scout Award
