Our cubs are just back after a fantastic weekend staying at Curraghchase Scout House.Despite the very changeable weather the boys did not let this spoil their enjoyment. The boys arrived on Friday evening and were give the evening to explore the surrounding area and make their own fun. Saturday after breakfast the boys helped collect firewood for the upcoming evening campfire as well as having some free time.In the afternoon the boys were taken on a hike into Curraghchase Forest park where they had great fun rolling down the big hill before going onto the Children’s Playground and finishing off by climbing up to the cross. When we got back to the House again the boys were given free time where they built their own bivys. After this the 3 Ventures we had with us arranged 3 bases for the boys showing the how to use a saw and axe,Fire building and Bivy Making.Talking to the cubs afterwards the boys really enjoyed this event. After dinner once again the boys were given free time. Some of the boys did a night hike to finish off the day. Sunday was supposed to see us take part in the County Founders Day Event but as the weather turned really nasty this event was cancelled but our boys did not let the weather spoil their extra free time as they teamed up with St Johns to play capture the Flag and build more bivys. It was a very tired group of cubs that departed Curraghchase for home at 2-30pm Sunday after a great weekend A huge thank You to Leaders Claire,Ger and Michael for making this weekend possible for the boys. It is important that the Leaders speak on the parents behalf about the fantastic held given to us throughout the weekend by our 3 Ventures who practically ran the outside programe for us and ceratinly helped to look after the cubs. These lads are certainly Leaders of the future. Also thank to Felim our Beaver leader who helped out over the weekend Finally a big thank you to the boys themselves whose behavior over the weekend was excellent and most certainly did the group proud.
