Clonmacken Cubs Broadford Weekend and Investiture

Our cubs are just back from a great weekend in Broadford Girl Guide House. We had 20 young lads and 3 Leaders. They boys had a great time building their own forts in the woods as well as hiking to the lake and also a night hike.
During the weekend we held an investiture and welcomed 10 new boys into the cub pack as well as investing Ashley Lally as a Leader. After the investiture we held a scouts own where the biys reflected on some of their best moments in their lifes,we finished the evening with a campfire and party. Thanks to Group Leader Des McKeown and Group Secretary Catherine Clancy for coming out for Investiture. It was great to see so many parents coming out for the Investiture,Some of the boys were also presented with their stage 1 First aid badge.
The weekend was a really enjoyable event and I think we can safely say that the boys will sleep easy tonight after very little sleep over the weekend.
Well done to all the cubs on their behavior and a big thank you to Mike,Ger and Ashley for making the weekend possible for the boys

40th Year Celebration Dance

On Saturday night last November 9th the Group celebrated 40 years of Scouting in Caherdavin with a Dance at the Na Piarsaigh Clubhouse. This was a well attended event with Leaders from today and years gone bye getting together to enjoy this event.

A slide show of all events from 1979 right through to the present day played all through  the night. It showed how active the Group has been throughout the 40 years,Some of the highlights on this display would have to be the Melvin win,Opening of Scout Hall and the Creann Challange.

It was great to see former Group Leaders Eamon Fuller,Tom Mitchell,John Giltenan,Joe O Halloran and Ollie Shinnors in attendance as well as our present Group Leader Des MeKeown.

Des,Ollie,John and Eamon all addressed the crowd.

Des presented Peter Sheehan with one of our new Group Hoodies as a thank you for designing the new Group Badge.

Also in attendance was Robbie Daly from Scout about Radio and he spent the night interviewing past and present Leaders for his Radio Programme. Robbie also interviewed 8 of of younger members at the Scout Hall in the afternoon.

Finger food was served up for everyone and a big thank you to Mace Caherdavin for this food.

Scouting in Caherdavin is still going strong and heres to the next 40 years.

A big thanks to Na Piarsaigh for the use of their Clubhouse

Finally a massive THANK YOU to everyone who turned up and made this a hugely enjoyable and successful night

Pictures of the night will be added shortly
