We’ve had a busy two months covering the Hillwalking adventure skills scheme. We hope to run assesments soon and give out badges shortly afterwards. I also have badges for those who took part in the County Scout Camp in September
There will be NO SCOUT MEETING on Wednesday February 27th due to the Secondary Schools Registration Night. Can anyone going to the Expedition (you know who you are) please come up between 7 and 9 on Thursday night to prepare for the event
Further details of the upcoming events will be given out in the coming weeks. For events marked as limited participation, we will contact those who have qualified directly.
Reg Fee Unfortunately it is time to collect the registration fee for this year. We will be holding a registration night on February 28th between 7pm and 8pm. If you cannot attend on this night or have any queries, please contact Barry (preferably in advance).
Annual Camp This year we are celebrating our 40th anniversary and will be holding a camp at the Clare County Campsite, Ruan, Clare for all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Ventures and Rovers. The Scouts will be camping from Wednesday 3rd to Sunday 7th July. A €20 deposit is required by the end of March. We can take this on the Registration night if it is convenient. If you have any queries, please contact Barry
Please contact Barry on 085 7284899 or email email@example.com
Please note – we can only bring a small number of scouts on this event. This is based on attendance on recent troop hiking events. There will be another event the weekend after for everyone.
Location: Galtee Mountains (Event signposts from Rossadrehid Village)
Time: Sat 14:00 – Sun 14:00
Cost: €15 per Scout (includes event fee, a badge and food)
This is an overnight hike so a larger pack is required. All Scouts will be required to carry some of the team gear in addition to your own personal gear so please leave some room. All Scouts are required to bring the following:
Raingear (top & bottom)
Hat & gloves
Packed lunch for saturday
There will be a gear inspection at the start of the event and scouts without the proper gear will not be permitted to take part. Please read this guide on what to bring and how to pack it. No gear should be handing off your bag! No JEANS!!!!
Scouts must make their own way to the event – we suggest you carpool
Thanks to all who attended our recent sleepover, it went off very well. The boys have been “beavering” away at the Air Activities badge recently and we only have two more things to do (details to come) before we hand out the badges. (if you missed a night check out this page). We’ve got a busy couple of months coming up with the investiture, St Patrick’s Day, the Egg Hunt, County Hike and the Group Camp in Ruan Co. Clare. We’re also hoping to complete the Camping, Hillwalking, Backwoods and Pioneering badges as well as the Bree and Cronn Badges (End of year badges) so try to attend as much as you can.
Scout Shop & Neckerchiefs
The Scout Shop will be in the St Paul’s Scout Hall (in the St Paul’s School yard in Raheen) on Saturday Feb 23rd between 1pm and 3pm. If anyone wants to order a neckerchief, please text Barry before 5pm on Wednesday
Family members are invited to join us for the investiture next Monday Feb 25 from 7.30 to 8.30pm (beavers to arrive as normal at 7pm) Full uniform is required by ALL beavers. Tea & coffee will be available afterwards.
Easter Egg Hunt
There will be a county event in Craggaunowen in Co Clare on Sunday April 7th from 10am to 1pm. This will cost €6 for Beavers (this includes activities and an Easter Egg). Any parent that wants to come along can do so at the reduced rate of €6, instead of €9. This does not include an Easter egg! We need at least 10 beavers to attend
This is required by Monday March 11th at the VERY LATEST! As this is a county event we cannot accept any money beyond this date – no exceptions.
We will be collecting the €80 registration fee for this term on Thursday February 28th from 7pm to 8pm. If you cannot attend on this night or have any queries, please contact Barry.
A deposit of €15 for the annual camp (July 7th/8th) is required by Monday March 11th. This is important so we can start planning the camp.
