During Xmas break the Leaders got together to plan out the rest of the cub year and give you the costing of the various events we plan to do.
We felt that by doing this and giving you all the details on dates and cost that it will help you in paying for the various events on a weekly basis.
We will be taking money for all events plus the second half fees on a weekly basis from next week onwards.
Here are the events and the prices

There is an extra event for does lads that are going onto Scouts in September. This is a 20km hike which will be held March/April in County Limerick. The cost of this event will be €12.More info as soon as I have it
This year’s Cub Camp is a very special one in July. As the Group is 40 years old this year we will be holding a group camp for all ages. This is the first time in over 25 years that we have done a group camp but to celebrate the 40 years we have decide to hold a special group camp. We would very much like as many as possible to attend this camp. Many special activities are planned for this event. Our cub camp is normally 2 nights 3days but this year we are going for 3 nights 4 days. Boys who wish to only go for 2 nights may do so but it will be the same cost. The venue for Group camp is Ruan Co Clare.
We must have non-refundable deposits of €10 for Curraghchase and €20 for Group camp by Tuesday February 12th 2013.
We are also asking you the parents for this year to get the boys to march with the Group for the St Patricks day Parade. This is to help us to make it as big a group as possible to celebrate the 40 years.
Please make sure that you put any money for events into an envelope and clearly make what event you are paying for.It is important that you do this as we will be collecting for so many events.
Welcome back after the Christmas break.
We will be having our first activity of 2013 on the 2nd/3rd of February. We will be having a sleepover from 8pm until 11am in the Scout Hall. This will cost €5. Beavers will need a sleeping bag, ground mat and pillow for this night. Keep an eye on http://www.caherdavinscouts.ie for updates.
The Investiture Ceremony is when a Beaver makes their Beaver promise, is presented with their neckerchief and officially becomes part of the World Scout Movement. Families are invited to join us on Monday 25th February for this special occasion. More details will be given out closer to the event.
All Beavers must have the uniform for this. This can be purchased on http://www.thescoutshop.ie. We will be ordering the Group Neckerchiefs and presented them on the night.
The neckerchief and badge will be available to order from next week and will cost €6.50.
Air Activities Badge
During January we are covering the air activities badges. If you missed a night you can catch up on https://caherdavinscouts.ie/beavers/air/. We’ll be running the assessments as part of the sleepover but if you cannot attend, we will make alternative arrangements
Group Camp 2013
To celebrate our scout group’s 40th anniversary this year we will be holding a number of events. The highlight of the year will be a Group Camp at the Clare Scout County Campsite in Ruan, Co. Clare. This will be the first time that all five sections (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Ventures and Rovers) will have camped together. The dates for the Beaver camp are the 6th/7th July and we estimate the cost will be €25. More details to come

The Beaver Leaders
The first Scout activity of 2013 will be a day hike up Keeper Hill (694m) in North Tipperary. We’re meeting at the carpark of keeper hill at 11am on Saturday January 19th. Scouts are to arrange their own transport to and from the event.
Scouts need to bring the following (as discussed at this week’s meeting):
- Food & Water
- Warm Clothes (plus a spare change to be left in the car)
- Raincoat & Overtrousers
- Head Torch
This is a good hike, suitable for beginners. Remember every hike counts towards completing your Hillwalking Stage 4 badge.
