Fun Orienteering Day 2011

On Sunday October 2nd 12 of our cub pack and 2 leaders had a most enjoyable time taking part in thr Fun Orienteering Day held in Cratloe Woods. The event was run by the Meelick group. All of our cubs did the mediem map reading challenge.Ther were 8 points to find on the map and when the boys reached each point the punched their card. They coarse was roughly 6 km long.Once the lads got used to reading the maps correctly they had no problem completing the tasks.Despite the damp conditions everyone really had a great time. This was our first outdoor event of the new cub year and for the boys who have just joined use from Beavers it was their first cub event. Well done in particular to the 3 older cubs who completed the course without the assistance of the leaders.

The group also had  4 Scouts and  1Scouter complete the Long Course which included 10 points spread across the forest park and 2 Ventures who were part of the staff on the day
