Last Sunday the Scouters along with representatives of the Cubs, Scouts, Ventures and Rovers took part in the Group’s transition training day for Scouting Ireland’s ONE Programme. The course covered the SPICES, the Programme Cycle, the contents of each section’s programme and the various awards on offer. The Group looks forward to getting the new handbooks and introducing their members to the new programme.
That evening the Scouters went to dinner in the Greenhills Hotel (the Group’s Christmas dinner had been postponed). After dinner Group Leader Des McKeown made a presentation to Eimear Carroll who recently stood down as a Cub Leader.
The beavers held their first meeting back last night and were joined by the Ventures and Rovers who kindly set up an abseiling rig in the hall. The beavers really enjoyed this. The beavers also put a tent (a vango alpha) on their own and were shown what a bivy bag is.
The Beavers will be resuming meetings this Monday with an abseiling session run by the Ventures and Rovers- starting as we mean to go on. Last term our activities included the County Beaver Halloween Day in Pallaskenry (Oct), a trip to Delta Adventure City (Nov) and our Christmas Party (Dec). We’ve got lots planned for this term (watch this space) include the introduction of Scouting Ireland’s One Programme.
