The road to the 22nd World Scout Jamboree, to be held in Sweden next Summer, has begun for one of our leaders. Barry Kennedy, a leader for both the Beaver and Venture sections, will be going to the Jamboree as part of the International Service Team (IST).
A World Scout Jamboree only happens every four years and attracts between 20,000 and 40,000 Scouts from all corners of the globe, for a once in a lifetime experience. This Jamboree is extra special for Ireland as we will be sending our largest ever contingent with 850 scouts and scouters travelling from Ireland.
Last weekend the contingent held their first camp in Portlick, Westmeath. This allowed everyone to get to know each other as well as a chance to trial some of the activities the Irish will be running in Sweden.
