Venture & Rover Expedition Challenge

Well done to the two teams who successfully completed the Expedition Challenge this weekend. The Expedition’s theme was “introduction to the Explorer Belt” and the venue was the Greater Limerick Area. The aim was to introduce the Ventures and Rovers to the format of events such as the Venture Scout Challenge and the Explorer Belt.

After spending a night in the Scout Hall, Team 1 (Brian and Thomas) were dropped off in Sixmilebridge while Team 2 (Aaron and David) were dropped off in Obriens bridge. Both teams had until 3pm the next day to arrive at the Castleconnell scout campsite having hiked 30km. They also had to write a logbook and complete 2 projects. After an interview both teams were awarded the Expedition Certificate by Ast. Venture Scouter/Expedition Coordinator Barry Kennedy. Thanks to Mark Hempenstall who was the driver and Terrance Shine of the 26th Limerick for letting us use the campsite. Reports & photos to come
